Een rolstoelbus en woningaanpassing voor Aron!

Help jij kanjer Aron een mooie toekomst te geven na een zware start? [English below]

Wij (Sophie, Arnick en zusje Louise) willen jullie aandacht en hulp vragen voor dappere Aron. Een 4-jarige bikkel die al heel wat heeft moeten doorstaan in zijn jonge leventje.

De lange tijd op de intensive care

Aron moest een paar maanden na zijn geboorte worden geopereerd aan ernstige vernauwingen in zijn luchtpijp. Vanwege levensbedreigende complicaties volgden er 11 maanden op de intensive care, vol zware operaties en behandelingen.

Aron overleefde gelukkig deze zware strijd, maar er kon niet worden voorkomen dat hij verstandelijk en lichamelijk gehandicapt is geraakt. Een heftige tijd, waarin we geen lach meer zagen op het gezicht van de normaal zo vrolijke Aron. Pas na maanden was er een eerste kleine glimlach, wat ons weer hernieuwde moed gaf.

Eindelijk thuis

Na dit jaar brak thuis een zware tijd aan van intensieve zorg en revalidatie. Door zijn levenslust is Aron met ups en downs langzaam vooruit gegaan. Hij kon bij thuiskomst alleen maar liggen. Inmiddels is hij 4 jaar en kan hij een beetje kruipen, maar niet staan, lopen of praten. En nu wordt hij te zwaar en te groot om hem in een autostoeltje te zetten of de trap op te tillen. Zijn rolstoel past niet in zijn slaapkamertje of in de auto.

Nu is er een rolstoelbus en woningaanpassing nodig

• Aron heeft een (tweedehands) rolstoelbus nodig, met een zij-lift om Aron bij (adem)nood snel uit de bus te krijgen met alle medische hulpmiddelen in de achterbak. De bus heeft hij nodig om naar de revalidatiekliniek en het ziekenhuis te gaan, maar ook naar zijn mytylschool waar hij sinds kort heel enthousiast heen mag! Maar ook gewoon om als ieder normaal gezin op pad te kunnen gaan: naar familie, vrienden en alle uitstapjes die Aron’s wereld nu groter maken.

• Om hem nog lang thuis te kunnen blijven verzorgen is een woningaanpassing noodzakelijk. Er moet een gelijkvloerse aanbouw met speciale badkamer en slaapkamer komen.

Help je mee?

De bus en de verbouwing worden maar voor een deel vergoed door de gemeente, en wij hebben als gezin door de intensieve zorg en medische geschiedenis geen financiële ruimte meer voor de resterende kosten. Er is nog 30.000 euro nodig voor de vereiste rolstoelbus en 20.000 euro voor de kosten van verbouwing die niet door de gemeente vergoed wordt.

Will you help get brave Aron a wheelchair accessible van & house?

We (mom Sophie, dad Arnick and sister Louise) would like to ask your help for brave Aron. A four-year-old boy who has been faced with many severe medical challenges in his young life.

A year in pediatric intensive care

Aron had to undergo surgery for severe tracheal deficits a few months after his birth. Due to life-threatening complications, 11 months in the pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) followed, with major surgeries and treatments. Fortunately, Aron survived this incredibly difficult battle, but it could not be prevented that he became mentally and physically disabled.

Home at last

After this year, we were immensely grateful to be able to hold him and to see him start smiling again. We took 24/7 care of Aron and focused on his rehabilitation. Aron has progressed slowly with ups and downs. When he got home, he could only lie down. He is now 4 years old and can crawl a bit, but cannot stand, walk or talk. Unfortunately, he's now getting too heavy and too big to place him in a car seat or lift him up the stairs. What’s more, his wheelchair doesn't fit in his bedroom or in the car.

Now a wheelchair accessible van & special needs house remodeling is needed

• Aron needs a wheelchair van to take him to the rehabilitation clinic and the hospital, but also to his special needs school that he has recently started attending enthusiastically. But also to be able to go out like any normal family: to family, friends and all the activities that expand Aron's world.

• In order for Aron to live at home with his family, house remodeling is necessary to accommodate for his disabilities. We need to create a ground floor space with a wheelchair accessible bedroom and special needs bathroom.

Due to the 24/7 care for Aron, and his medical history, we do not have the required financial resources ourselves. We are asking for your help to raise 30,000 euros for the wheelchair van 20,000 euros for the special needs home remodeling.
