Odyssey of the Mind - World Finals!

Donation protected
We need your help to get to World Finals! Odyssey of the Mind is a worldwide creative problem solving competition. Teams are divided by grade level (3rd-5th, 6th-8th and highschool) and choose between 5 different types of problems to solve.

After months of practice and planning, Maple Run School District, division 1 "Team Balsa" participated in "Animal House", which is this year's balsa problem. In this problem, teams designed and built a balsa wood structure with a weight restriction of 15 grams that was tested for strength during a skit performance. Their structure held 157 pounds!

Team Balsa qualified for the World tournament in Ames, Iowa in May. Three team members (Mason Conner, Patricia Noza and Rebecca Tetreault) are planning to attend the World Tournament to represent Saint Albans and Vermont.

This motivated trio has alot of work ahead of them with fundraising to cover the cost, as well as reworking the skit and props for a 3 person group.  In addition, they will be building and testing multiple balsa structures in an attempt to build a stronger structure which will hold more weight at Worlds.

The team will be planning multiple fundraisers to cover the students' cost (about $1,300/per student).  They will be flying to Iowa, staying on-site at Iowa State University and participating in the World tournament.

Team Balsa would appreciate your support, no matter how big or small! They look forward to representing Vermont and coming home proud of their performance!
