Cody Bennett’s Journey to Walk Again
Donation protected
Cody, a 16 year old level 10 competitive gymnast, experienced a neck fracture (C6-7) on Wednesday, July 24th. He had surgery within 6 hours to repair the fracture and relieve the compression on his spinal cord.
When he came to the hospital, he had no sensation below his belly. After a couple of days, he can feel small sensations down to his knee and sometimes in his feet. He has use of his arms but his hand function and grip is clumsy as the nerves have been compromised.
This will be a long journey as he regains feeling, function, and mobility (we hope)—he fully intends to return to gymnastics in the future.
Please consider helping as we navigate the hospital bills, the future time and expenses of rehab, and time taken off work to care for Cody.
We have so much gratitude for anything you can do to help.
