Help Baby Grayson

Donation protected
Meet the adorable Grayson Rainier Kemp and his big brother, Logan. Grayson turned one in March and three months later was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs. This disease is a rare genetic condition where the lack of a key enzyme results in progressive cell damage and neurological disorder. There is no known cure.

This awful disease has kept Grayson from holding a bottle, sitting unassisted, and saying his first word, but he loves cuddling up on Mommy's chest during family hikes and smiles throughout foot rubs and body massages from Daddy. He absolutely adores watching and laughing with his four year-old brother. When he looks directly into your eyes, it melts your heart. Above all, Grayson endures each and every blood draw, medical procedure, and physical evaluation like a champ.

Grayson's mommy continues to take intermittent days of unpaid time away from her job as both parents work to support Grayson while trying to maintain a "normal" childhood for his older brother. The family of four resides in California where Grayson's medical team has been established. Grayson’s daddy has to travel for work frequently and the Kemp family has limited local support as their families are mostly located in Pennsylvania and Texas. The amount of time needed for doctors' appointments, nurse visits, therapy sessions, hospital visits, medical research, and family bonding will be difficult to sustain with two working parents as Grayson becomes more medically fragile.

The family has been working with a team of eight specialized doctors, four Easter Seals therapists, and have now established relationships with relevant clinical trials that Grayson may qualify for that could hopefully lead to a cure. The expenses required to sustain Grayson's life until a cure is discovered will be extensive. Over time he will need nurses, a surgery to insert a G-tube to provide nutrition when he is no longer able to swallow, seizure medications, support equipment (specialized stroller, bath chair, handicap accessibility modifications, etc.), travel to specialists, and many other currently unforeseen needs.

This is the beginning of Grayson and his family's greatest battle. This page has been set up for all who want to come together and offer support for Grayson and his family, whether it's a kind word, a prayer, or a financial donation to help the family through this difficult time.
