Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Master Technician, and combat war veteran, Joseph Michael Clunie, age 35 passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joe leaves behind his wife Crystal, children; Ryan, Justin and Abby, along with numerous family, friends, and thousands of EOD brothers. He enjoyed coaching hockey, running, hiking, history and most importantly spending time with his family and friends.
Joe’s dream was to buy a house for his family, and we want to help bring his dream to life. All of your donations will be delivered to an account selected by Joe’s family for the purpose of purchasing the house that Joe and Crystal had always intended to buy, but never got the chance. Joe has always been too proud to ask for help but he would be happy knowing that his family is supported through this tragic time. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
Joe was born, raised and educated in western New York. Upon graduating from high school, joined the Navy as a submariner Electronics Technician and completed tours in the North Atlantic, Artic, and Persian Gulf. After September 11, 2001, was accepted into the Seaman-to-Admiral program and completed his undergraduate studies in 2 years in order to lead Navy EOD Operators combating IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan. Joe earned the Bronze Star for his outstanding service on the battlefield in Iraq in 2009. A dedicated patriot, he had served nearly 17 years for his country.
