I have started this page to help fund my daughter Kaila's fight against Leukemia. She is a 12 year old middle schooler from Hickory, NC who was just diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Here is a little background on what this journey has been so far.
On September 19th, 2014 Kaila was taken to the ER due to stomach pains. While there she was diagnosed with Mono and had 4 swollen lympnods.
On September 30th, 2014 she had 8 swollen lympnods and was diagnosed with acute tonsilitis. At that point she was throwing up blood and was tested again for Mono, which was negative. She was given an oral and injected antibiotic.
On October 2nd, 2014 I took her to the ENT because she wasn't getting any better. They doctor said her tonsils were extremely swollen and her airway was the size of a coffee straw. She was given a steroid to go along with antibiotic.
On October 6th, 2014 I took her back to ENT, they did blood work and found out her platelets were low. They recommended a follow up visit on October 21st, 2014.
On October 19th, 2014 she was vomiting, leg cramps and had pelvic pain so we took her to the ER. They did blood work and noticed her white count was extremely high. They also realized that she had a failing liver and kidneys. From that point they sent her to Brenner Children Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Once at Brenner, they did blood work again and sent her to the ICU, she was then diagnosed with Leukemia.
October 20th, 2014 they did a bone marrow biopsy and confirmed it was T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since being diagnosed she has had ports put into her neck and chest for dialysis and chemo treatments. She will be in the ICU for an undetermined amount of time.
We are reaching out to help cover her medicals costs because our family currently has no health insurance. Any size donation is appreciated and we thank you in advance for your time and consideration!
