Sunflower Sultans of Greco CA Trip

Each year the CYC hosts a Greco Roman Wrestling event in Concorde, CA.  Teams from all of the world and all over the United States have attended this event. 

This year the 2016 US Olympic Greco Roman team will be attending as well to instruct these high school wrestlers who all have aspirations of becoming Olympians in their wrestling careers. 

I am Will Cokeley, Director of Olympic Styles wrestling for the state of Kansas.  I have put together this unique opportunity for 12 high school wrestlers from across the state of Kansas to fly to California and compete against wrestlers from Oregon, California, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and other states as well as teens from Sweden, Norway, Hungary.  The cost of this trip is nearly $10,000 for the coaches and wrestlers.  This pays for airfare, ground transportation, hotel rooms, food, and incidentals.  While some of these wrestlers are economically fit to cover these costs most are not on such short notice.   We depart on May 20th!

I am a passionate advocate of high school kids participating in sports and seeking EXCELLENCE in their sport of choice.  I want to help this kids get out of Kansas and see what it takes to be the best!   They will stay in rooms next to kids from around the country and around the United States.  They will participate in a tshirt exchange and find out what wrestlers from other areas and training disciplines are all about.   I feel this experience and exposure is absolutely PRICELESS for these kids.  This will be the first time some of them have ever been on a flight and ridden a BART train!   I know this will be an experience they will never forget and they will be eternally grateful for.    I feel this is molding their future and making them into our future leaders and mentors of their younger counterparts.  

Most of these wrestlers workout 11 months of the year.  They take the sport very seriously.  They will appreciate your help and assistance beyond your imagination. 

Please help the Sunflower Sultans of Greco 2016 get to California to take on the WORLD!!
