Kruz was diagnosed at 7 months old on February 20, 2015 with Stage 2B thoracic/paraspinal Neuroblastoma. He has had 2 emergency lamenectomy's due to almost being paralyzed twice & a thoractomy to remove 95% of the cancer. The drs believed his body would handle the remaining cancer without needing chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer grew back with a vengeance in 2 weeks on his spine in April 2015. We were forced to start chemo. After 2 courses of low dose chemo we rescanned to see how the cancer was reacting to chemo & unfortunately again the chemo wasn't working & his cancer was growing. We started an intermediate dose chemo & did 4 rounds of it unfortunately it didnt work. We started high dose chemo September 2, 2015. There is talk of possible surgery & radiation on top of the strong chemo. The neuroblastoma in kruz has never reacted the way drs had planned due to the histology of his tumor. Its acting more like high risk neuroblastoma instead of low risk like they originally thought. They dont likw to do radiation on babies due to it stunting growth so we are nervous about any further treatment. Please follow us on Facebook at Team Kruz > Neuroblastoma.
