Team Loan - "Small BUT Mighty"

On June 12th, 2016, we received news that would bring new excitement to our lives. We were EXPECTING our first child! We both cried with the news, as we had already experienced a miscarriage on Easter Sunday. 2017 was going to be the year that would forever change our lives.

Since late November 2016, doctors have been trying to determine the cause of my low hemoglobin level. They thought it was anemia in pregnancy, so I was prescribed 5 rounds of iron infusions and had multiple tests completed.

On the morning of January 13th, I woke up throwing up blood and was taken to the emergency room. I was 34 weeks pregnant at this time. Once admitted, doctors tested my hemoglobin and found that it dropped to a critical level, so a blood transfusion was immediately started.

Once I was stabilized, the doctors proceeded to check on our baby. They tried for an hour to find a heartbeat, but were not able to find one. On January 14th, our son Finnick Ngoc Woll was born stillborn. He was perfect in every way and we're so thankful to have met him.

A few days later, I was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This was the cause of my low hemoglobin all these months. A tumor in my stomach had been slowly bleeding out for the last 6 to 9 months.

I have completed my radiation treatments and I am currently undergoing chemotherapy to treat the lymphoma. The last few weeks has truly humbled us. We're so thankful for all the love and kindness shared with us from our family, friends, nurses, doctors, and so many others. I've met so many incredible people and have never felt alone once in this entire journey.

We also take comfort knowing that in no way shape of form did the pregnancy affect or cause the lymphoma. They were simply two separate incidents, which just coincidentally happened at the same time.

We are raising money to honour our son's memory in the following ways:

1. We'd like to donate 3 Cuddle Cots by Flexmort to Trillium Health Partners, which will allow parents (if they choose) more time with their baby.

2. We'd like to fund 10 Look Good Feel Better workshops to help women facing cancer feel more like themselves.

3. We'd like to raise $20,000 and participate as a family to the OneWalk to Conquer Cancer this September. Funds raised will go towards cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Thank you in advance for all your love, prayers, and support. We hope parents and cancer patients can feel just as much hope as we do.
