strength
streNG(k)TH/ : the emotional or mental qualities necessary in dealing with situations or events that are distressing or difficult.
Strength. You never know your own strength, or the strength of others until you are called to use it.
Whether it be in the form of a phone call, dinners, stopping by just because they know you need to see a happy face, etc., Tim and Lorin can always be counted on to help out others. It's their strength. They never hesitiate to help when help is needed, no matter how busy life is. 2016 has not been an easy year for them and now it's our turn to have the honor to help out this precious family as they have so often been the strength we've needed in ours.
Cancer - it's strange how a 6 letter word has the ability to change your life forever. You never think that it will be you.... until it is.
May 18th, 2016 on what should have been a happy day, his wife was heading back to her first day of work after winning her battle with cervical cancer, Tim went to the doctor to get evalutated for a cough he just couldn't seem to shake. Sinus infections, pneumonia, a nasty cold... those are the things you think of, right? The routine office visit lead to a CXR, which lead to a CT, which lead to the dreaded word cancer. On May 20th he and his family prepared for the biopsy that would determine what the future would hold for them. While all of the pathology is not yet back, the doctors feel certain that Tim has Hodgkin's Lymphoma and will need chemo and radiation. Even with facing all of the side effects that chemo/radiation hold, Tim's concern was not how he would feel, but how his daughters (ages 4 and 6) would handle what was going on. This truly speaks to Tim's heart for others.
While we don't have all of the answers right now, we do know that Tim and Lorin will need help. Help with routine things ( lawn care, meals, house cleaning, etc. - links for meals coming soon) and financial help- and that's something we can do. Above all - pray. Pray for His peace, understanding and complete healing. Pray for the physicians and nurses that will be involved in his care. If you are led to give financially, please know that you can do so here. The road will be long, with many missed days of work and insurance that doesn't cover all of the costs, so any amount ( and we mean that!!) is more of a blessing than you will ever know.
We will update more as we have more information to share. Until then, Team #LongStrong is in full force!
