This is my dad and my mom.
Their love was contagious! Five years ago, my father passed away from numerous health problems, unfortunately none that were in his control. We suffered with him, and struggle without him in our lives.
Recently, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Here's the facts:
1. We love our mom.
2. Our mom has lung cancer
3. The lung cancer started in her lungs and spread to her adrenal glands, liver, and bones. They call this stage 4 adenoid cystic carcinoma, so our mom will always have cancer. Now treatment is focused on stopping growth, or even shrinking the already-present cancer.
4. Treatment is going to be rigorous. Treatment has already included radiation to reduce the cancer cells in her brain and shoulder. The bulk of the treatment will now include chemotherapy. She will begin this on March 15th. It is one day of treatment every three weeks. We hope the chemo will come with positive results and moderate side-effects.
5. Lung cancer typically has a negative prognosis. We know that she will always have cancer.
We invite you help us raise money because cancer requires extensive treatment, in and out of the hospital. My mom will also be out of work during the course of her treatment. My brother and I are in college and working to cover expenses. Our family has continus medical bills due to my own heart disease, and the pile is only foreshadowed to grow.
Cancer is a big word that takes control of your life without you having any say in it. With this money, we will pay for bills and treatments that our mom needs to have a fighting chance in this world and, against her cancer. We're scared, and your selfless giving will help us take one step forward without fear of denying my mom any treatment because we weren't able to afford it. When we have the means to treat my mom, we can save her life.
My family has struggled- with physical, emotional, and financial health burdens. But we can't be weak, we have to stay strong. We were close before my dad passed, but we've grown closer over the past five years and we know what it's like to have little, but love much. We support our mom 100%. We are fighting this as a family, one cancer treatment at a time.
We have faith and hope in the Lord for full renewal of health.
"...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles ; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
