Teddy's Eye Surgery

Teddy was rescued from a high kill shelter in NYC back in Oct. Shortly after being rescued, our vet discovered that Teddy had a severe ulcer in his left eye that if his eye wasn't removed, it would likely ruptured. Immediately he had surgery to remove his left eye. Teddy was also very sick with an auto-immune disease that makes surgery and recovery very challenging. He was super brave and championed through that surgery and thrived. 7 months later, out of the blue, his right eye developed a melting corneal and while waiting to see an ophthalmologist less than 2 days later, it ruptured. He lost his corneal and his sight and immediately needed emergency eye surgery to remove his right eye. This news was very devastating. After all Teddy had endured in the course of such a short amount of time, it just wasn't fair that he was loosing his remaining eye and had lost his sight.
Teddy made it through the surgery like the brave champ that he is, but his anxiety level is high, as I'm sure any of ours would be if we woke up from surgery to darkness unable to open our eyes and see sunlight again.
I will be Teddy's eyes and his strength while he adjusts and together we will find a new normal. He is such a super special pup that has gone through more in the past 7-8 months than any pup should. He deserves only the good that life brings.
I don't talk about my personal life often, choosing to let my Instagram be filled with memories and glimpse of my four legged kids. The timing of this surgery and cost could not have come at the worst possible time. Recently I became unemployed and though it wasn't even a question or doubt in my mind that Teddy needed this surgery, the bill was certainly an amount that I was unprepared for.
This GoFundMe is to help with his surgery bill and the follow up in 2 weeks. Any amount is appreciated. We feel so fortunate and blessed to have so many people love Teddy. The next few months is going to be hard, for me and for him, and I personally would not be able to find the strength if it wasn't for our incredible dog loving community.
