I am a teacher in a Title 1 school in New Orleans.
Teaching is tough business. Teaching in a school with such need is exceedingly so. It's because we teach some of the smartest, sweetest, funniest, most creative little humans you would ever want to meet, and they deserve so much. Mostly we are confined to our classrooms, but when the opportunity arises to allow our little ones the chance to experience something outside of our classrooms, we jump upon it. Because, they deserve it.
Teddy Bear Tea is a wonderful holiday tradition for the (affluent) children of New Orleans. For the past three years, thanks to the generosity of many kind folks, we have taken a number of girls to tea, and the experience has been wonderful. We would love to be able to do this again this year.
We need $1525 to take our girls in a stretch limo (traveling in STYLE) to Teddy Bear Tea. Money also goes toward buying dresses and accessories for those girls who may need them.
Teddy Bear Tea is, simply put, magic.
The hotel in which the Teddy Bear Tea is held is breathtaking. The lobby is draped in shining, sparkling lights, dangling crystals, and dozens of elaborately decorated trees. The tea ballroom looks like a scene from Santa's Workshop. Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, and other characters move throughout the tables as tea-goers in fancy dresses enjoy bottomless glasses of hot chocolate and delicious pastries. As full and happy little girls file out of the ballroom, they are handed a teddy bear as a memento. Something they can look at to help them remember this wonderful day.
Your donation would be giving our girls the opportunity of a lifetime.
Being able to attend a Teddy Bear Tea is something we couldn't do without help! If you have it in your hearts to donate, our girls and I would greatly appreciate it.
