We learned of our friend Teelo Ellipsis Martinez’s passing on Friday, January 12, 2024. They were an ethereal, singular, and endlessly compassionate human. They brightened our community in incalculable ways with their dedication to fighting for justice and equality, their outspoken voice in the LGBTQIA+ community, their strive for perfection in every facet of work - both leisure and professional, and by being a beacon of support and strength to all of us - their chosen family, friends, and colleagues.

We’re reaching out to our community now for much needed support to uphold Teelo’s final arrangements. We are still early in the process, so we do not have a full view of what may be on the horizon. But we are committed to sharing updates as we learn of them.

The current goals to reach include:

Payment for at least one month’s rent of their apartment (Feb 1st) so that we have the time to organize Tee’s personal effects deliberately and with the dignity their space deserves. We suspect there will be utilities to pay as well, and anticipate additional fees in the process of closing out their space.

A support fund for Loo, Tee’s sweet, brave kitty, to help his new adoptive parent with upcoming costs for his wellness and care.

A memorial bench in Tee’s name, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Tee regularly visited the bench of a late friend - they spent a tremendous amount of time there, and even maintained the general area and upkeep of it. This would be an extraordinary way to honor them - a wooden memorial, grounded on the earth.

Should there be any remaining funds after these expenses, a donation will be made to the CVTC (Crime Victims Treatment Center), an organization they donated to regularly.

Because this community is Teelo’s family, we are grateful for anything you can offer at this time to help with end of life costs. All of your generosity and kindness is deeply appreciated.
