Teenage Cancer Trust - 475km Run, walk, probably crawl
Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”. Teenage Cancer Trust offers unique care and support, designed for and with young people. They fund specialised nurses, youth workers and hospital units in the NHS, so young people have dedicated staff and facilities to support them throughout their treatment.
This is why I am running (…walking.. and probably crawling) 475km in 10 days. That is one marathon and a 5km park run every day for 10 days! This whole project will be prepared, navigated and ran by myself - no support vehicle or person to accompany me.
Every penny raised will be going to this fantastic cause; helping to support the everyday world class cancer services, provide life-changing care and the incredibly hard working hospital units, so young people do not have to face cancer alone.
I will be starting my journey in the town of Mülheim, North West Germany and I will be finishing in Atherstone, near Birmingham. My current itinerary is listed below:
Mulhiem to Sonsbeck - 50km (31 miles)
Sonsbeck to Oss - 70km (44 miles)
Oss to Gorinchem - 44km (27 miles)
Gorinchem to Rotterdam - 42km (26 miles)
Rotterdam to Harwich - 33km (21 miles plus Ferry)
Harwich to Sudbury - 53km (33 miles)
Sudbury to Cambridge - 53km (33 miles)
Cambridge to Higham Ferriers - 50km (35 miles)
Higham Ferriers to Rugby - 52km (32 miles)

The first steps will take place Saturday May 10th 2025 and the challenge will be completed Monday 19th May 2025.
The below will help illustrate the tangible impact your donation makes:
- £3 - could buy tea and coffee supplies for the kitchen on one of our units, so young people and families can make themselves a cuppa and feel more at home.
- £5 - could buy arts & crafts supplies for one of our units, giving young people the chance to get creative together and take their minds off treatment.
- £7 - could pay for a copy of the ‘Your Guide to Cancer’ booklet, written together with young people who’ve been through it, and filled with expert information and tips on dealing with every aspect of a diagnosis. This will help provide the answers to the hardest questions.
- £10 - could buy food for a brunch club on one of our units, so young people with cancer can get together to share breakfast, coffee and whatever’s on their minds.
- £20 - could buy a gift for a young person who’s having to spend their birthday in hospital, thanks to our Youth Support Coordinators’ activity budget.
- £25 - could pay for an hour with a Youth Support Coordinator, who provides the extra help young people need with things like studies, relationships and mental wellbeing throughout cancer treatment.
- £30 - could pay for an hour of expert care from a Teenage Cancer Trust Nurse, who’s trained to support young people with the clinical, social and emotional impact of cancer.
