Teenage Short film funding !
Donation protected
Hi.
My name is Finn Darby, and I am a teenage film-enthusiast/maker. I've always been surrounded by people in the industry, and as long as I can remember I have wanted to make films, even dating back to my elementary school lego stop motions, which in my opinion, is a stage we don't have to examine too deeply. Anywho, I am setting up this Go fund me, to fund my next project that Ruby Vincent and I wrote together, and to eventually get it some film festivals!
But whats the film!
Yes, yes, if you're giving money to a teenager for something you probably want to know what its for. Well the film is called effervescent, and it depicts the tale of a teenage girl struggling with undiagnosed schizophrenia. It will deal with how she was brought up, and how that affected her view of mental health problems, and her eventual road to diagnosis. The movie itself is going to be heavily inspired by Dario Argento's work, namely Suspiria and Phenomena. As well as Věra Chytilová's Sedmikrásky, or "Daisies" in english. If you are not familiar with the film, I would highly recommend it. It is a surrealist masterpiece. Basically- I want to make a surrealist film with goblins-esque music (the composers for many of Argento's films) telling a story relating to mental health and society's view of it. Another main selling point is that the film is going to have animation in it, over the top of the video. The animation is going to portray the main characters' schizophrenic delusions and hallucinations, as well as embodying and symbolizing her relationship with her illness. This is displayed through a recurring hallucination of a shadowy man.
Hmmmmm. Now some sort of backing that isn't obscure film trivia.
Right right, yes. Now you know what it is, you want to make sure it's gonna happen. Well, I can give you some surety there. https://www.renews.co.nz/the-toasty-mockumentary-that-won-these-teens-an-award-at-the-48hours-film-competition/ This is a link to a news article about a film that I worked on this year, that won 1st in the under-18 category at the 48 hour film festival in New Zealand. I helped to write the script, and starred in it. Doing the 48 hour film festival reinstilled the thirst to make films in me, and I cannot wait to get this next one off the ground. The money that you donate to this gofundme will be used in large part to pay for the animation, as I think that is an essential part of this film and will make it stand out in festivals. The money will also be used to pay actors for the adult roles, a handheld camera stabilizer for my camera because I plan on a few moving shots, and finally festival submission fees. (as well as contingencies of course.)
I hope you can see the same potential as I do in this film!
