About TeKema:
TeKema is a 25 year old from Madison who is pursing a nursing degree at Madison College.. She is an alumni of Madison East High School as well as a former Boys & Girls member. She works part time as a model, signed to the local Rock Agency; part time as a care giver, working for BrightStar Home Care and part time as a coach for Madison East Track and Field and currently sits on the committee for P.A.T.C.H.(Providers and Teens Communication for Health) a program organized by Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health. As an avid animal lover. TeKema is the proud mother of two labradoodles, a cat, a spotted leopard gecko and an aquarium full of salt water aquatic life.
UPDATES:
During TeKema's rein as Miss Black Wisconsin she's been involved all over the community. The first appearance she made was to open the Black Womens Leadership Conference were she left an impression on many girls. Seeing how excited the young girls were yo see a brown queen she then made an effort to hold a work shop at the annual Black Girls Magic Conference. Not only did she run a workshop, she got the approval to allow high school students to attend and volunteer with her for the day. After the Black Girls Magic conference TeKema went on to meet with Governor Evers and Lt. Governor Barnes to discuss ways to improve the academic performance of brown students in Wisconsin. TeKema has also been featured in the following media sources: Milwaukee Magazine, Cap Times and Umoja. In the next months time (June-July) You can find her in Madison Magazine and Our Lives Magazine. You can also tune in for a live interview with WKOW during the Wake Up Wisconsin on June 17th (6am).

"The Miss Black USA Organization is the first and oldest scholarship pageant for women of color, awarding over $500,000 in scholarships. The pageant empowers women to own their power and celebrates their unique talents, traits and beauty. Miss Black USA defines her own standard of beauty and celebrates the whole women, mind, body and spirit, all shades of brown, hair texture and size. Miss Black USA is a non-profit corporation headquartered in the state of Maryland."
