Tekoa's Musical Color & Art Run
Tax deductible
Tekoa Elementary School is looking to raise $5,000! One hundred percent of the proceeds would go to bringing in a local artist to teacher lessons to students grade TK-5, along with art supplies for the lessons. In addition, the funds would help support buying or repairing musical instruments for students. Students would not only learn to play instruments put perform for the local community twice per year. Another way we plan to use the funds is for the performing arts. Students each year will perform a short 30 minute play or a larger play such as our play this year Disney Jr. Aladdin.
The visual and performing arts are important to our school because they provide children the opportunity to develop both the right and left side of their brains. The visual arts start with basic lines and colors to the more developed skills of perspectives, placements and color tones.
The performing arts teach beat and tempo, which supports the academic area of reading. In addition students are learning to memorize lines, stage placement, tone, volume and facing fears of performing in front of large crowds.
In both the visual and performing arts student are developing personal interests, facing internal and external hurtles and potential exposure that leads to a career in architecture, illustrator, interior design, graphic design, marketing, computer design.... the possibilities are endless.
100% of the proceeds go directly to students!
