New boiler required so our Tram can steam again.

Help to bring our narrow-gauge steam tram back to life

Our steam tram and it’s 16-seat coach have been providing enjoyment to our visitors since the mid 1980s on its circuit of track at Telford Steam Railway.

Unfortunately, in 2019 the vertical boiler was condemned after many years of use and now needs to be replaced. Additional work is also required to the coach before this popular and possibly unique narrow gauge steam tram can run again.

Having an operational Steam Tram will allow our volunteers to keep our heritage story alive. It will give our visitors the very rare opportunity to experience the sight, smell and noise of a working engine, and to pass on the knowledge and understanding of how a steam tram is operated and maintained for many years to come.

How can you help?

Donate to our steam tram appeal. The breakdown of the work required is as follows.

(1) A new built vertical boiler has been sourced for £8500. Money now needs to be quickly raised so we can buy it

Estimated Cost £8500

All monies raised through this appeal will be ringfenced to be spent on the above. Any additional monies raised will be used in the upkeep of the tram once it is running again.

Everyone who donates becomes a supporter of the Telford Steam Tram. Supporters will receive updates on how restoration is progressing, and news about when the tram will be running again.

Donate £100 to become a ‘Bronze’ supporter and receive an invitation to ride behind the tram on a special Members Weekend before public trains commence.

Donate £250 to become a ‘Silver’ supporter and receive the above plus a steam tram driver experience once the tram is operational.

Donate £500 to become a ‘Gold’ supporter and receive the above plus have your name added to a commemorative board which will be carried in the tram coach.
