Temporary Medical Insurance Assistance
To my dear friends, these past 25 years of battling multiple health issues has taken a great toll on my body. I thought surviving cancer was the end of it, but now that i've been diagnosed with end stage kidney disease, having to find a kidney donor and dialysis 3 times a week is so stressful.
In my life I have dedicated my time and as well as financial resources to helping others in need. So after much deliberation and talking to friends that I'm now seeking temporary assistance to help cover my health costs till the end of 2019.
When I started dialysis in Feb, I had a choice of receiving a grant from the American Kidney Foundation, they cover my Blue Shield PPO monthly of $1300/month as well as my uncovered health care costs of $1200.
If I receive a kidney transplant, AKF will cover all those expenses as well as post operation living expenses. which Blue Shield doesn't cover.
Last week California Legislators passed a bill to block 4000 patients like me from receiving money from AKF to pay for our medical costs. That's $2500/month, that helped with the stress of working fulltime and making money. This takes affect Oct 1st. ugh.
In order to have qualified for AKF I have to be earning less than $1500/month. So I retired and closed my business in April when I turned 50. I don't qualify for medicare. My fiance's income covers our household expenses. I lined up a teaching job which won't start till January 2020.
We were totally blindsided by the ruling. Past medical bills have dried up our savings. My parents help when they can. They're retired and on a fixed income.
I appreciate any donation amount, every bit helps. If you're unable to, it's all good, prayers I find a blood type O positive living donor will be a blessing.

FYI: Lalaine Lao is my fiance, we have joint accounts. For the time being I'll need to reduce any monies being deposited into my personal account in case I'm able to find another government grant and requires that I be disabled and unable to work full time. Thanks for understanding.
