Temptation Bar
It’s hard to swallow your Pride and ask for help but sometimes it’s the only choice. My name is Wendy and I own a BYOB (no liquor license) LGBT bar in Cookeville, TN. Our bar is a family and safe place for our community and allies. I’ve had the bar since April 2017 (3 month break in 2019).
I am a single Trans woman who has been accepted in Cookeville and being able to have this bar has become a necessity for many including myself.
The First of March Cookeville was hit by a Tornado and my bar missed destruction by 20ft. The building had minimum damage but the community around was hit hard. I was able to reopen on March 13th
(For only one weekend) then the
Corona virus: made it a health hazard to open to our family and friends.
Storm damages and loss of revenue streams have depleted savings.
Certain operational expenses must be maintained to preserve a positive gathering place for our community.
We are all having to tighten our belts during this trying time as futures are frightening and uncertain. However anything you could do to help us will be greatly appreciated.
I’ve been dipping in my little savings hoping we could open again but with uncertainty comes fear and panic. April is around the coroner and not sure I’ll be able to meet utilities, rent, insurance etc while maintaining my own household.
I know many are hurting but worth asking for help
