An Exceptional Person

Anyone who has ever met Teresa Olson knows that she is a cool cat! Have you seen her record

collection? Have you gone out dancing with her? This chick knows how to party! Some of you

may know her as one of the most talented interior designers, the owner of Olson House, a boutique shop offering Scandinavian-made home decor and locally crafted gifts and lifestyle products. She has the best sense of style and a wicked sense of humor. She is also a devoted mom to two demonic, rad, tiny lions (cats that is). Pure and simple--she is the nicest soul you will ever meet.

That is the absolute truth. Teresa’s guiding principle is to do good for each other and for this

planet—and have fun while doing it!

When did you meet Teresa? What impact did she make on your personal or professional life?

The Diagnosis

Turns out shitty things happen to cool people. Last summer, Teresa was diagnosed with

metastatic breast cancer, also called stage IV cancer. It is considered non-curable at this time.

Treatment is focused on managing the condition rather than providing a cure. That’s a lot to

hear. That’s a lot to deal with every day. But Teresa, the superwoman that she is, is not giving

up easily. Her positivity is astounding! She made a choice to accept the shitty hand she was

dealt with her fierce courage and bright energy. Her treatment plan is working. Her body is

responding really well to the medication, and she is doing all that she can to support her

immune system and mental strength to continue forging ahead. But, as we all know,

prescriptions are expensive, and holistic and non-western medicine treatments are not covered

by insurance. Even organic food, which is a major part of her cancer-inhibiting diet, costs

substantially more than regular groceries.

It has been a year since Teresa’s diagnosis. Although it may seem like old news, every day

presents a new challenge for her. So, on this anniversary let’s all come together to celebrate

and support Teresa and her continued fight against cancer.

For years Teresa has been a support system for many of you. Her graciousness is unmatched

and her kindness contagious. Now is the time for us to show up for her—show her how much
