Teresa Orr recovery fund

“ Teresa is a lady in her sixties who has had difficulty with circulation to both her legs in recent years. After many interventions to improve the circulation, and much chronic pain, she received the devastating news from her surgeon that she needed to have her leg amputated. A few days after the amputation Teresa was told that she would need her remaining leg amputated too, which was done a week later. This has now left Teresa as a double amputee and has massively affected her quality of life and her day-to-day activities of living.

Whilst Teresa is still receiving inpatient treatment in Letterkenny University Hospital, she has a long recovery ahead from these life changing events. Teresa is currently wheelchair bound, and to get her home there will have to be many major adjustments made to her two-story house. In essence a downstairs living area needs to be created by means of a room conversion and bathroom conversion. Doors will have to be widened, and an entrance ramp created in order for Teresa to be able to access the house.

With funds raised from this fundraiser it is hoped that these adjustments to her home can be expedited and will allow for the purchase of mobility aids such as an electric wheelchair. This will allow Teresa to return to her home and continue her road to recovery.

Since this fund was started Teresa’s

circumstances have changed.

Teresa is now at home with her beloved family who have shared this long hard journey with her over the past 5 years.

Teresa is so happy to be home!!

Her after care will now continue on an out patient basis both in Galway and Dublin.

Teresa is one AMAZING lady! Her strength and determination to become as healthy, independent and as mobile as she can be is inspirational.
