If you've ever sung karaoke at the Black Hart of Saint Paul or the Townhouse, you'll know that when "Tennessee Whiskey" starts playing, bartender Teresa has the microphone behind the bar. Teresa has been a part of our community for ages now and she could really use our help.
From Teresa:
I originally believed I had given myself a hernia in the first part of October. But pain and swelling in my abdomen led me to believe I needed a second opinion. I brought myself into urgent care, they did a CT scan and found an 8.5 cm mass attached to my right ovary. After blood work and uncomfortable tests, my doctor recommended surgery, a total hysterectomy, mass removal, and possible cancer removal. I went in for surgery on November 2nd with four days in the hospital and recovery. The results were that the ovary, mass and uterus were stage 2 cancerous. The doctor strongly recommended chemo, which I began on November 29th. I am now awaiting my chemo schedule.
There have been many physical and mental aspects during and through an ongoing recovery. To say this has been very overwhelming would be an understatement. Now I am faced with the financial reality, but I am here to fight another day.
