Support for Teresa Woods' Fight Against ALS
Donation protected
In 2021, our world was completely turned upside down when my sister, Teresa Woods, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. For those who don't know, ALS is a terminal neuromuscular disease that causes the motor neurons in the body to slowly die and robs a person of their ability to move, speak and eventually even breathe on their own.
It is an unimaginably cruel disease, where the person is slowly trapped inside their physical body due to a deterioration of muscle power and movement, while their mind remains alert and sharp. ALS is a terminal disease with an average life expectancy of 2-5 years, often called the ‘thousand-day disease’.
Aside from the physical toll this disease takes on your body, the financial demand is even larger. Due to the progression of the disease, Teresa requires full time caregivers. This out of pocket expense has drained her bank account, savings, and almost all of her retirement. She is on the verge of needing to sell her home to cover her expenses and our hope is to be able to provide her with this one place of comfort and familiarity as she battles this disease.
Any amount you could donate would be appreciated and will 100% go towards my sister's care. Please keep her and my family in your thoughts and prayers during this time. Much love and thanks.
