Teri’s House
Donation protected
On Friday, April 8th, we tragically lost one of our beloved pillars of the Staten Island community and dedicated advocate of children and adults with special needs, Teri Russo at the age of 82. She is survived by her two down syndrome adopted sons, Ronnie, 53 and Alan, 34.
Because of this sad passing, Kristine aka Krissy had to leave behind her life, family of three kids and a Husband in Florida to come back and care for the boys and their home. Krissy Betancourt, 46, started working for Teri’s House when she was 14 years old. Over the years, she has become known as Teri’s surrogate daughter. She has been tasked with the challenges of maintaining the house and overseeing the needs for both of the boys. She loves them like her own.
This go fund me page is really to help out with the boys being able to stay in their home, repairs around the house and past due bills since Teri was hospitalized.
The Russo boys have lost two of their brothers and now their mother. Krissy wants to be able to give them hope and faith again by helping them to do what they loved to
do. It also has been hard on them since COVID-19. Ronnie, a former Special Olympics powerlifter, who says he still has muscles but most importantly, he misses hitting those weights at a gym. He also always dreamed of having a green house of his own since he enjoys gardening. Alan, ever since he was a child, has always loved riding horses and he mentioned to Krissy recently that he misses it very much. Their beautiful souls both deserve a helping hand to get back into their passions and reunite with their peers.
