Terminate Hubert the Tumor

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shannon, and I am Addie Jo's cousin.

Addie Jo is at the ripe old age of 34 and has colon cancer. Her cancer is moderately differentiated invasive adenocarcinoma, and I've learned from her that the tumor is growing quickly but not necessarily the quickest. Her situation requires swift treatment, but a positive outcome should also ensue. We are praying and hoping for the best, but the first course of action is surgery to remove Hubert the Tumor. Surgery is scheduled for December 9th.

We are huge UNC Tarheel fans, and I'm not sure why Addie Jo named her tumor after the current UNC men's basketball coach, but given his first year as coach, I hope this is a good sign. When Hubert Davis became UNC's head men's basketball coach, we were unsure how that would play out. My mother, who I would say is the biggest UNC fan ever, passed away before Davis' first season. He gave UNC fans more than we could have ever dreamed of, making it to the NCAA championship against their biggest rivalry Duke, for the first time in the history of the NCAA tourney. Man, she would have loved it. Her love for UNC passed onto all of us, and AJ was one of the beneficiaries of this love and was fortunate to receive her BA degree from UNC. After UNC, AJ devoted herself to ministry and became a methodist pastor. Her journey was not simple, but she has pursued her spiritual journey in the church through many faith-building activities and camaraderie that share her same faith and theological intellect.

Back to Hubert the tumor. He sucks, he is ugly, and he needs to go away! But to make that happen, there are many medical procedures done and to be done, and the family will need to travel for surgery, support, and recovery. Additionally, Addie Jo is an independent contractor and does not have access to sick leave, vacation pay, or short-term disability. Her recovery is expected to be around six weeks; during this time, she will not be able to work. These financial donations will help her recoup the income she will have lost while she focuses on healing. Any amount is helpful and very much appreciated. Please help Addie Jo and her family have one less stressor during this difficult time.

Bye Hubert and welcome a Healthier Addie Jo. We love you!

PS: God, We DO want Hubert the tumor gone, but not Hubert the bball coach.

Love,
The Schonewolf, Brewer, Jackson, Carpenter families and many, many more
