My name is Aly Kowal, and I am writing this on behalf of my Aunt Theresa, aka Terri Birkemeier. For those of you who know my aunt, know her to be very loving and generous to others. She spends her days creating small blessings of hope, resiliency, love, and perseverance via rocks that she paints and distributes at local hospitals and to those she meets who may need an inspiration. She has created artful kaleidoscopes for children in hospitals and finds continued ways to pay it forward to those who may need loving acknowledgment and affection.
In early August, Terri was diagnosed with stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer in her spine following debilitating pain in abdomen and ribs. This news comes after seven, relentless years of traumatizing health trials and tribulations.
In 2016, a massive heart attack which she attributes as being the tipping point when her health began to shift.
In 2017, a Breast Cancer diagnosis alongside a double mastectomy led to an allergic reaction to the implant’s metal expanders causing a massive infection.
In 2018, a kidney cancer diagnosis and the removal of 35% of her kidney, as well as, cardiac blood clots in her legs.
In 2020, a broken tooth and metal implant caused Burned Mouth Syndrome which is an agonizing experience that resulted in her mouth feeling extremely dry and chapped with no relief.
In 2022, a major mouth surgery that removed all her teeth, metal fillings and root canals.
Through these experiences medical debt accumulated, and her current diagnosis requires expenses that will, too, come with a cost. We are hoping to build her arsenal of holistic healthcare and accessibility to alternatives to help with pain and ensure independent living is as comfortable as possible.
More specifically, we have purchased an adjustable mattress to aid in getting in and out of bed easier as well as a RIFE machine to help with her holistic cancer treatment regimen.
(Rife machines produce low energy frequency waves that are supposed to match the natural rhythm of some bacteria, viruses and most importantly, cancer cells. These waves cause the cancer cells to vibrate and die without damaging the normal cells).
Aunt Theresa receives regular acupuncture and insurance will only cover 20 visits, then they will need to be paid out of pocket. We would like to extend these treatments as long as possible.
As with anything, we would also like to ask for support with caregiving efforts to support
Terri and Randy, her devoted husband. Items like lawncare, groceries, medicine, pet care etc.
Our family has always been deep rooted in the belief of helping others and ensuring their TLC. On behalf of all of us, we thank you for reading and for your continued prayers and the generosity in care for our family.
