Terri's Leukemia Challenge

Donation protected
Overview
Terri Nelson-Anderson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on 5/14/19. It is a rare form of Leukemia most commonly found in children. Along with the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Terri tested positive for a Philadelphia + chromosome (a defective chromosome) which makes everything more tedious and difficult to treat. Terri will undergo several rounds of chemo to kill off the Leukemia Cancer cells, and once she has completed the chemo, she will go through a Stem Cell Transplant which will consist of healthy bone marrow being inserted into Terri's bone marrow and hope that healthy cells will replicate and regenerate. As of right now there are three courses of chemo set in place for Terri which looks like it could be about three months of the chemo process.

Story
The last few months Terri has been feeling very fatigued and achy. It was very out of the ordinary and continually got worse as days went on. Terri finally decided it was time to go in and see a doctor. Terri went in saw her Family Practice Doctor in Brainerd, MN. Terri was expecting hear that she had arthritis, fibromyalgia, or something similar with her side effects. Because Terri mentioned to her doctor that she had problems with her blood counts 20+ years ago, the doctor had decided to randomly check on a complete blood count. Thank Heavens! Not even a day later the doctor called Terri, and asked if she could come in to meet about her extremely high white blood count.

Terri and her husband, Jason went in right away to hear that her doctor suspected she had some kind of Blood Cancer. Her doctor had been calling other doctors and physicians to consult with to guarantee her diagnosis, and it was then they decided that further action needed to be taken right away. Terri's doctor said it was an act of God that we checked your CBC (complete blood count), otherwise it isn't protocol, and is 'off the charts'. The Hematologist that Terri's doctor consulted with noted that if it weren't for the CBC test and they didn't find the Leukemia, Terri more than likely wouldn't have made it past the end June, 2019.

As of Saturday, June 1st, 2019, Terri has almost completed her first round of chemo 'in-patient' at Mayo Cinic, Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Her nurses and doctors have been truly AMAZING and accommodating. Her doctor here said that the worst is over as she had her most intense chemo last week. And it was a hard week for her, with the typical chemo side effects that took place. The next couple weeks and rounds of chemo will not be easy, but shouldn't be as bad as the first round. Once the chemo is complete doctors will schedule a treatment plan for the Stem Cell Transplant which will more than likely take place in three months or so.

Terri has been off work since May 13th. Doctors say she won't be able to go back for 6-12 months depending on treatment and side effects. Jason has been by Terri's side at the hospital for the last two weeks and plans to be off up to three months on Family Medical Leave. Paychecks and income will be minimal throughout this time. And as bills pile up the stresses become more of a burden with the Terri's diagnosis. Financials will be tough and budgets strict. Terri and her family would appreciate any kind of help that you can provide. Terri and her family so very much appreciate all the thoughts, kindness, and PRAYERS. God is good! Thank you for everything and please keep us in your prayers as we move forward to fight off Terri's Leukemia!
