Terri's Lipedema Removal Plastic Surgery

Hi Everybody! Thanks for checking out my GoFundMe page.

I'm looking for funding to help pay for a life changing surgery that is scheduled for September 18, 2023. The surgery is Bilateral Reduction or Liposuction to remove the Lipedema located on my hips and upper thighs, or "saddlebags" as seen in my photo. My insurance (Medicare and BCBSMN) is covering most of the costs but I'm responsible for paying my out of pocket deductible. I live on a limited income (Social Security Disability) and am finding it difficult to raise the funding needed.

You may be wondering what is Lipedema. It is a chronic medical condition characterized by a systematic build up of adipose tissue (fat) in the arms and legs. Lipedema may cause pain, swelling, and easy bruising along with decreased mobility. It affects 13 % of the population, mostly women.

Over the past 18 months I've been focused on decreasing my weight and increasing my mobility. I followed a dietary program set by Mayo Clinic and I've lost 75 pounds. I began exercising in a warm water pool. I worked up from going 2-3 a week to consistently going 5 days a week. I now run 3 miles in place in an hour. But despite all my efforts those saddlebags aren't budging so this liposuction surgery is necessary be able to achieve a healthier life with less pain, more mobility and better mental health.
