Terry's Medical Tests & Treatment

Terry went to the hospital for the first time in January of last year. He was yellow and had extreme abdominal pain. He was admitted and spent 4 days in the hospital and was referred to a Gastroenterologist. They ran numerous tests and decided to increase the medication for his Ulcerative Colitis and run more tests, never actually deciding on what caused the jaundice or pain.

Fast forward to September of 2023, he was again admitted to the hospital for 5 days in extreme abdominal pain. Next, they referred him to a specialist to see if possibly his Gallbladder needed to come out, or there was something else causing his symptoms. There they found a spot on his Bile Duct and one on his Liver. They advised that mass in his Liver was the size of a peach and told him he had Bile Duct Cancer and sent him to an Oncologist.

In that moment, he, his wife and our whole family were all devastated to say the least. Scared and unwell, he waited in agony for his appointment with the Oncologist. When he finally saw him, the Oncologist looked at his biopsy and PET Scan and suggested that he did not see evidence Cancer. He did do the test for C-diff and repeated the biopsy just to make sure and confirmed his original finding of no Cancer but did confirm the C-Diff infection.

C-Diff, if you've never heard of it, is an extremely brutal virus that is either caused by antibiotics use or cross contamination from other patients at the hospital.

Hearing there is no Cancer, sounds like amazing news, and the answer to all our prayers, which is true, BUT it still leaves us back at square one.

Terry has had a total of 9 MRI's, 3 CAT Scans, a PET Scan, a "Motion Mode" Ultrasound, a regular Ultrasound, 2 Biopsies and more blood work than you can imagine. Most of these procedures are being done in Oklahoma City where the specialists are located and is about 100 miles away. Even though he has insurance, it still costs him dearly, each trip. Just the gas and co-pays alone are excessive, especially since he has not been able to work during this whole time.

As most of you know, Terry and Skylor have a 15-month-old little boy and this should be the happiest time of their lives., but since he is too weak to be out and about most days, he is missing most of it. He has lost close to 50 lbs and isn't able to do the things we all take for granted like going to the park with his son, shopping, a movie, or even to church because he can't make it through the service without having to go to the bathroom. He has some good days but the bad definitely. outweigh the good.

For now, he is trying to re-group, get other medical opinions and seek an actual diagnosis.

Jeri Anderson is putting together a benefit concert for him the weekend of April 27th for all you music lovers. It will consist of lots of bands, an auction, food trucks and more!
