Terry McAlister Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Tawnie McAlister and I've created this gofundme to help my dad, Terry.
In June of 2022, Terry got diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer at 55 years old. Luckily, it's not terminal but is considered to be stage 4 due to the cancer metastasizing to a spot on his brain, shoulder, and lymph nodes. My dad has been through a lot in these last 6 months. Back in August, 90% of his left lung had collapsed, which put him in the hospital for ~15 days. Now it's almost entirely reinflated, but the cancer has moved into his hip. He's been getting immunotherapy treatments instead of chemo, and it's working pretty well. He is also doing targeted radiation treatments for the various other masses on his brain and bones. Terry was originally projected to go to back work January 2023, but this new and intense hip mass has pushed that back.
Terry has worked as a professional diesel mechanic for over 20 years, but due to the nature of the job he has been out of work for 6 months now. Although his job is being held for him, and he's still getting a paycheck every week, it's not enough to pay for everything. Treatments are expensive and regular bills can really start to add up. And now with being out of work for so long, our insurance will end on January 31st.
If you know Terry, you'll know that he's an incredibly kind and helpful man. He fixes everybody's cars for them, will drive people places in snow and ice, and has supported me both emotionally and financially through all of college. I want to help him now, and I need your help. I intend to give this money to my dad for him to use for any expenses he needs. Medical, bills, rent, food, anything. Please donate to this fund and help out a man who has been helping others for over 50 years.
I didn't really know what I should put for the initial fundraising goal, but if we meet it I'll likely increase the amount so I can get my dad as much help as I can. He's been taking care of me for 25 years, and I want to help take care of him now.
