Terry Sander's Memorial

June 8th, 2020, was a dreadful day for many of us. The day leading up to this heartbreaking evening was picturesque. Terry and Rachel were cuddled in bed on a rainy day with their furry children. Terry expressed to Rachel that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and how perfect this moment was. Afterwards, Terry left to do what he loved best, going to the gym and working out. In the midst of working out Terry called Rachel and said he wasn't feeling well and asked her to come pick him up. Soon after he was in good hands of the paramedics, and being rushed to the Cleveland Clinic. Rachel was following right behind as they rushed through the doors and into the ER. Terry was fighting to live for over a hour. The hospital staff did everything they could and never gave up on him. There was a glimmer of hope when he had a heartbeat for 12 minutes. Rachel was able to be with him and tell him that she loved him for the last time. The doctors called time of death when there were no signs of life left –Terry was then surrounded by Rachel and her family. From the moment he left the gym to hours later, he was being prayed over by hundreds.
The immediate family was in shock and disbelief; he was young, healthy, and living life to its absolute fullest. An autopsy was requested in order to search for an answer. No one could fathom or draw any conclusions as to why this happened. 15 hours later Rachel received a call with much needed closure. The autopsy showed that he had a tumor on his kidney and lung. This sudden cause of death was due to a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot in his lungs. With all this being said, the ambulance ride, extensive hospital bills, and post accommodations have been costly. A lot of these costs will be out of pocket. People ask, "how can I help?" "What can I do for you?" This is how you can help. This is what you can do to truly help and be effective. No one saw this coming and no plans were talked about or prepped for. With that being said, there is a lot to cover and do over the next few days. There will be a celebration of Terry’s life this Friday, June 12th. Message an immediate family member for details, address, and time. We would love your presence and support.
