Terry Smith’s Medical Expenses

Terry Smith is a police officer with the City of East Ridge, a motor officer, and a member of the specialized Traffic Unit. Prior to this, he served as a law enforcement officer in Collegedale, TN and in Pennsylvania. He has been serving his community through this line of work for more than 20 years. He is a certified child passenger safety restraint instructor; installing car seats for families and teaching them the importance of proper installation and usage to ensure the wellbeing of children in his community. Terry is also a certified CPR instructor and dedicates time out of his personal schedule to teaching those skills to local foster parents. He is a loving husband, father, and grandfather; expecting his third grandchild next month. He has devoted his life to serving his community and those around him, and now it’s time for his community to serve him.

Terry went to the ER for what he thought was just a cough and asthma in the first week of January, but was diagnosed with Covid-19 and had to be hospitalized as a result of this diagnosis. During his stay, he coughed a hole in his lung and has been on oxygen and a BiPAP machine. On January 21st, Terry had to be placed on a ventilator and was transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital in order to receive more specialized care. He has missed a great deal of work while he battles for his health and has acquired many expenses related to his hospital stay.

We want Terry and his wife, Kim, to be able to focus on his physical needs and continuing his road to recovery; rather than having to worry about the financial aspect associated with this struggle.
