Terry's Heartbeat Fund: Help a Cat Fight HOCM

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your outpouring of thoughts and support during this challenging time. Our beloved cat, Terry, experienced a frightening health scare. She has been a in our family since we rescued her as a kitten three years ago in Philadelphia. She holds a special place in our hearts, bringing joy and companionship to our lives every day.

Recently, we discovered Terry in a state of distress, with alarming symptoms that led us to rush her to the ER. After careful examination and being admitted to the ICU, it was determined that Terry had suffered a syncopal episode, accompanied by abnormal heart rate activity indicative of a condition called Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy (HOCM), a form of heart disease.

The diagnosis was devastating. We learned that Terry's heart condition is irreversible and progressive, requiring ongoing medical management to ensure her quality of life until she departs. Despite the challenges ahead, we are determined to do everything in our power to provide Terry with the care and support she needs to thrive.

Currently, Terry just started on medication to help manage her condition and is under the watchful eye of her veterinary team. While she does not currently have congestive heart failure, she remains at risk for future complications, underscoring the importance of continued monitoring and treatment.

The financial burden of Terry's medical care has been already significant, with over $4,000 spent in just the past two days. Additionally, she will require ongoing follow-up appointments and treatments in the coming months that include a veterinary cardiologist visits, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms and ultrasounds. As devoted pet parents, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure Terry's well-being and longevity.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards covering Terry's medical expenses, including medications, follow-up appointments, and emergency funds for unforeseen circumstances.
