^Tess/Wonder Woman/Mother/Sister/Friend
Hello all,
Everyone who has ever had the chance to know or meet our mother has always said generally the same thing, "your mother is the absolute sweetest person alive." Growing up, friends would call our house phone for my sister or me, only to end up on a long call with her for 45 minutes, and in turn forgetting why they called in the first place (typical). She has always gone above and beyond for everyone else in her life, treated Georgia and my friends like they're her own, showed up, and always did this with a can-do attitude and a bright smile on her face, even through the tougher times. Quite frankly, she's a heartbreaker and anyone who has known her has a soft spot for her due to her kindness, love, generosity, and humility.
Last week, our mother and our family were rocked to find out that she had been battling something nobody could have foreseen. Our mom was at work Friday afternoon when she "fainted, came to, and didn't recognize anyone." By the time our family got to Norwalk Hospital, we learned that she had a seizure as a result of a brain tumor in her frontal lobe. After a cat scan and an MRI, we learned, thank god, it was benign. The tumor is called a Meningioma, you can read more here: https://www.google.com/">http://www.abta.org/brain-tumor-information/types-of-tumors/meningioma.html?referrer=https://www.google.com/ (common symptoms are seizures, personality changes, headaches which she has had). The only option is brain surgery to go in and remove the tumor that has been growing for an unknown amount of time.
Although Tess Rooney is one tough cookie and would prefer to never ever ask for help, Georgia and I felt we need to open this up to her friends, family, coworkers and warm-hearted people because our mom can't handle these expenses on her own, not even close. The surgery is expected to be 8k out of pocket (the rest should be covered by insurance) and she will be out of work for minimum two months to fully recover.
Any type of help is beyond appreciated, even if it's just $5 (or as our mom calls them, "Mr. Lincoln's"), it all goes to a good place! Our goal is to raise as close to 9k as possible in order to cover living expenses, bills, and miscellaneous items regarding the surgery and medicine post-op.
Her surgery is scheduled for Friday, March 24th at Danbury Hospital, so even if you can't donate, please send up some prayers or positive vibes that day. This is all extremely scary but we are all hopeful (she wouldn't have it any other way). I speak for our entire family when I say words can't describe how appreciative we are, and grateful to be able to do this for everyone's favorite wonder woman, Tess Rooney.
Love always,
