As most of you know, our queen, Tessa Fleming, was in an accident on July 2nd that caused massive internal injuries and bleed that very nearly cost her her life. She was in a medically induced coma for two weeks and during that time underwent four very dangerous and complicated surgeries. Her life remained at risk during that time. The life saving surgeries she received left her with a 12 inch open wound on her abdomen. Meanwhile, once she woke up from the coma, it took 3 weeks for her vocal chords to return back to normal from being intubated for so long. If you know T, it is a devastating thing for her to not be able to talk! After over a month in the hospital, our warrior woman was sent home with a colostomy bag, a wound vacuum that was to be kept on her at all times, a 12 inch open wound, an additional tube draining the infection in her gallbladder, and due to being intubated for so long, a 50% closure of her airway (subglotic stenosis).
Now this is a huge ordeal for anyone to go through, but our girl has had to endure this just three short months after moving 3,000 miles away to New York away from her friends, family, and community. The road to recovery is continuous and long. She still needs to have a skin graft to close the wound on her abdomen, surgery on her airway to open up the dangerous closure, surgery to have her gallbladder removed and if all goes well, a surgery to reverse the colostomy. All of this has left Tess unable to work and under great financial burden. I'm starting this GoFundMe to ask people to help with whatever they can. The money raised will help Tessa with rent, groceries, and medical expenses.
