Not Just Testing for COVID-19 among the Seikopai
Tax deductible
I grew up among the Seikopai on the Cuyabeno and Aguarico rivers in northeast Ecuador. Great zest for life even as the outside world continues to encroach. Last week, because there have been deaths, the Raiz Foundation funded the purchasing and administration of 50 rapid COVID-19 tests. 18 came back positive. In order for medical professionals to determine the best course of action going forward, they need more tests, more PPE, pulse oximeters, etc.
The Raiz Foundation is already subsidizing a meals for elders program among the Seikopai, helping them safely shelter-in-place. Most of the country's medical resources have been deployed on the other side of the Andes mountains, in Guayaquil. The Seikopai corner of the world was first infected when a tourist from Europe developed a fever that wasn't malaria, and was subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19. Thanks in advance for your contribution.
