Help for Hayley

For those that know Hayley & her close friends and family, you will know that the past ten days has been an emotional rollercoaster. For those that don’t know Hayley, she is a 35 year old young woman, with no previous health concerns.

On the 31st of March, after months of continous headaches, phone calls to doctors, Hayley finally got a eye specialist appointment. Immediately the eye specialist saw that she had severe swelling behind her eyes and sent her for a CT scan. The early hours of the next morning they advised her that there was as large shadow on her brain and she was immediately transferred to the neuro specialists at QMC. An mri scan confirmed that she had a brain tumour, larger than an apple and she required emergency surgery that day to put a drain, as if they didn’t drain the fluid immediately, she wouldn’t have survived. The neuro surgeon said he was amazed that she was still with us, but that’s Hayley, the strongest girl we all know. The drain was put in to drain the fluid and the best neuro surgeons in Europe spent a week practicing for heroperation which she had on the 8th April, after several hours in theatre, they believe they have managed to remove the tumour.

Hayley has got a long road to recovery. The biopsy results won’t be with her for another week. She may have temporary or permanent disabilities but she is determined not to let this define her. I truly believe her positive outlook on life has pulled her through this traumatic time.

Hayley is a single mum to Preston & Paige, but has lots of support rallying around her, which we are all so grateful of. Hayley’s current home may no longer be suitable for her and her recovery, so I would like to try and raise some funds for her and her rehabilitation, including the need to maybe move to more suitable accommodation. It is a long road ahead and the love and support Hayley has received this far is truly overwhelming. Hayley, Jackie, Wayne and kian are so grateful for all your kind words.

Hayley’s story is also a stark reminder that if you have any concerns about your health and you aren’t getting referrals on your doctor please do not ignore your pain and to push for help, it could save your life.

Hayley, my best friend of 30 years, you are my inspiration, I love you.
