Help Texada Island Get A Wildfire Initial Attack Vehicle

Donation protected

We are fundraising for a much-needed Wildfire Initial Attack Vehicle for the firefighters of Texada Island. Texada Island, one of the Northern Gulf Islands on British Columbia's pristine Sunshine Coast. Texada Island is the largest gulf island with close to 200 square kilometers of forest. Most of the roads on Texada Island are logging roads many of which require specialized vehicles to access. Our two local volunteer fire departments have had intensive training in wildfire fighting and structural protection but lack the means to access key areas of the island as our structure fire trucks were not built for these roads. Our hope is to purchase a Utility Terrain Vehicle like a John Deere Gator and a firefighting skid unit with a water tank. pump, hoseline, and space for a stretcher in case we need to conduct a patient extrication. Please help protect our island from a major disaster by helping us acquire this important unit.

Benefactors interested in donating $2500 or more will have their names/logos permanently marked on our vehicle or it's storage unit.

In terms of an estimate cost breakdown:
Utility Terrain Vehicle: ranges from $25000-$60000. Ideally we'd have a unit that could seat up to five firefighters.
Firefighting Skid Unit with pump, hoseline, water container and stretcher space: Approximately $10000
Possible upgrades: doors, five grab and go backpacks with wildland firefighting gear, towing package

NOTE: The Fundraiser states Theresa Beech as the beneficiary as Theresa administers the Fire Department ban account.
