Howdy!
I am a University Honors junior at Texas A&M University with a double major in Plant & Environmental Soil Sciences and Turfgrass Science and a double minor in Agronomy and Environmental Soil Science. After graduation, I plan to attend law school to study Agricultural & Environmental Law. This summer, I will be participating in a study abroad through Texas A&M's Marketing department. As a future law student, this will be a fantastic opportunity for me to learn how to "market" my cases and gain new communicative skills. While on the study abroad, I will be traveling to London, France, Monaco, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In each country I will gain new skills and enjoy new cultural experiences.
For this study abroad opportunity, I have decided to earn and acquire the funds to pay for this on my own. Over the last few months I have been saving and earning money in as many ways possible to support my trip. Currently, I am taking 17 hours of coursework and working 25+ hours each week at the Soil Extension Agency. I am hoping to have spending money while in Europe to pay for my meals and activities, however, I do not believe I will have any money left over after paying for the trip itself. I am responsible for paying for the majority of my meals as well as all of my activities and souvenirs. We have been told that these extra expenses will be anywhere between $700-$2000.
I have applied for numerous scholarships and am hoping to find side jobs during the evenings and on the weekends to earn extra money as well. Any support from my friends and family would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in hearing about my trip while I am in Europe, please feel free to email me at [email redacted] to be added to my emailing list!
A huge thank you in advance,
Shelby Ferguson
