Texas A&M Solar Car Racing Team

Howdy!

We are the Texas A&M Solar Car Racing Team. As a team, we are challenged to research, design, build, and race a functioning, road legal solar car for competition. We will compete in Summer 2024 in the Formula Sun Grand Prix and the American Solar Challenge.

Our Story:

In Fall of 2022, a group of Aggies passionate about cars and renewable energy worked to revive what had once been Texas A&M’s Solar Motorsports Team which had previously competed between 1994 and 2005. Over the past three semesters, we have recruited a team of dedicated Aggies who are excited to face the challenge of designing, building, and racing a solar car.

As a student organization, we have very limited resources, so any support that you can offer is deeply appreciated as it directly helps us to create our car and compete at the Formula Sun Grand Prix and the American Solar Challenge. This program provides valuable, hands-on experience that requires our team members to think critically and work as a team to solve the unique challenges that come with fabricating a solar powered vehicle. Our members also gain experience in communicating with industry professionals through our design reviews and speaker presentations.

After many months of designing, researching, and receiving feedback from industry professionals and professors, work on Duodecim has taken off. We are so grateful for the support we have received from our community, and we look forward to seeing what more the team is capable of.

Our Adopt-a-Cell Program:

As we continue to raise the funds to get our team to competition, we wanted to introduce the exciting opportunity for family, friends, and our community to adopt cells on our solar array and have your name on Duodecim. When you adopt a cell, your name will be featured on the car. The starting price for a cell is $75, but we invite and appreciate donations of all sizes. If you wish to have your donation counted as an adopted cell, please write the word cell next to your name when you donate or email [email redacted].

Donation Uses:

Before we are able to race at FSGP and ASC in 2024, we need to raise the funds to be able to create and race a competitive vehicle. These expenses include the cost of necessary materials, highly specific parts, materials for testing, and other expenses related to race logistics. As a student organization, it would truly not be possible for us to be successful without your continued support.
