Texas Hurricane Animal Rescue
Donation protected
This request comes from Raymond Kinman and Marisa Laursen. Marisa's brother and wife, Doug and Sherry Jackson, live in Aransas Pass, Texas, near the eye of Hurricane Harvey. Their home suffered extensive damage in the storm, including the roof being ripped off.
They rescue dogs, and currently have 31 dogs who they lovingly care for. They live on social security and have no insurance. They simply want to rebuild so they can provide a safe, loving home for dogs in need. They need a new roof, to remove trees and debris, fix smashed in walls, etc.
If you find it in your heart to help, Doug, Sherry and especially all the dogs will be very appreciative.
Here’s what Doug says, In his own words:
“My wife and I love animals. For about the last 9 years we’ve been rescuing animals, mainly dogs. We provide a forever home for them. We have three populations of dogs of all sizes totaling 31 at this moment. We live on social security, and from it we purchase 550 pounds of dog food plus their meds each month. We love doing this. It is not a sacrifice to us.
We are so relieved none of our dogs were injured in hurricane Harvey. However, the rescue structures are a different situation. Most roofing was removed by the hurricane. Trees fell on parts of the structures, and wind ripped off other parts. Then more then thirty inches of rain poured inside. The dogs sleep in all the buildings.
Getting supplies at this time is hard because there is no gas or stores open. We have dog food on hand fortunately, enough for the next several days.
We hear Fema may help but it could be a long time. We hav always focused on buying dog food and dog-related supplies each month with our limited funds, so we don't have insurance to fix things.
We’ve never asked for help before, and don’t need much personally. But we do want to continue offering shelter, food and love to dogs in need. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.”
Ray and Marisa live in Grass Valley, California. Doug and Sherry will be the beneficiaries and have sole access to the funds. Thank you so much in advance for your kind assistance!
