Texas Stuck me with the Bills & I an the victim

Hello, my name is Kelly Ann Meegan. I am fundraising because I was a victim of domestic violence.

My exfriend whom I was trying to help because he had nowhere to live allowed him to stay on my property. He was nice and appreciative at first but as time passed he became paranoid and controlling. By the time this happened, he was already in the house and would not leave. He accused me of cheating on him and started to get both physically and emotionally violent with me. I tried to leave multiple times but he threatened my family. He pulled me into the house by my hair and held me in my own house against my will at gunpoint. He was shooting a 9 mm around me and then he shot me in the neck with an incinerary bullet so it burned through my entire body. I was able to survive the gunshot and he went to jail. I had an order of protection and he came back to the house anyway and I was not able to get him to leave. He returned angry and abusive constantly hitting me or throwing hammers or axes at me.

He broke my nose multiple times, knocked out 4 of my teeth, and stabbed me in the head repeatedly in multiple places. He took a hatchet to my hand and knees so that I would not be able to leave him. He threatened my family and said that he would kill them if I ever tried to leave. He threatened Finnegan my dog and best friend of 13 years who is still missing to this day. He said if I tried to leave him he would cut off Finnegan's feet and let him die. He gave me a collapsed lung and broken ribs. My entire leg was so deeply infected that I had to have emergency surgery to have my leg cut open in multiple spots of my leg to drain the infection.

I spent 3 weeks in a Texas Hospital and a week in a New York hospital and I had to have a wound vac on my leg from my ankle to the top of my hip. It was extremely painful and at the same time, I needed to learn to walk again. I had so many medical issues from domestic violence. I had lost my hearing for a few weeks and I was so scared and alone not knowing if I was even safe in the confines of the hospital.

Scott was eventually arrested and I applied for assistance from the Texas Attorney General to help me with relocation and medical bills. I am still fighting with the state of Texas as I have over $300,000 in Medical bills that they are not assisting me with as a crime victim of a ward of their state. They had me do all this paperwork only to turn down the lifesaving care and surgeries that I had to endure to get myself healed.

The reason I am starting this fundraiser is that I am not able to get my head above water from all of these medical bills and the state of Texas is not holding Scott accountable nor are they helping me as the victim in all of this. Besides all the medical bills Scott caused me, he stole my car and I lost my house because of him and this situation. I had to flee Texas with just the clothes on my back and start completely over and learn to walk and use my hand again. I still have to have additional surgeries on my bladder since I was hit with a samurai sword repeatedly which has damaged my bladder.

I come before you today humbled and in need of assistance. Every little bit helps and I would be forever grateful for any assistance to help me get out of this medical bill hole that Scott and Texas have laid this burden at my feet. I will be using any money received to pay off the astronomical medical debt
