Texas Surf Museum "Waves of Honor" Wall
Tax deductible
In June of 2019 the Texas Surf Museum opened a new exhibit, China Beach: Surfing During the Vietnam War. This groundbreaking collection, on loan from the California Surf Museum, consists of photos, surfboards, memorabilia and first hand accounts of the tales of scores of veterans who surfed in Vietnam.
After the installation of this exhibit the Museum wanted to find a way to honor Texans who lost their lives in that war. The idea of the "Waves of Honor" Wall was conceived and now the Texas Surf Museum is proud to house this memorial. Every Texan who fought and died has a dog tag with their name, rank and hometown listed and on display on the Wave of Honor Wall. In total there are 3,414 dog tags.
It is our hope that citizens from every corner of our state visit our museum to see this display in person. Members of the public who would like to contribute towards the cost of the fabrication and installation of the memorial are encouraged to make a donation.
