Support the Rio cinema during the COVID-19 crisis

The Rio is one of the country's oldest independent cinemas. Built in 1915, it has survived the Spanish flu pandemic, the Blitz and the rise of the mulitplex. We want to ensure that the Covid-19 pandemic does not jeopardise the future of this much loved Hackney institution.  Like so many businesses, closure has hit us hard and as a non-profit organisation, we desperately need financial support to get through this period. When life returns to normal, we want to make sure that the Rio is still entertaining film lovers with its diverse programme of films, special events and community engagement. We can't wait to reopen our doors and share our beautiful cinema with you once again.
