Mariahs Fight

After undergoing numerous tests since May, and two days after her 22nd Birthday, on August 16, 2018, Mariah Martinez was told those ugly words that no one ever wants to hear, especially having already been through it once in her short life.  “You have stage 3 colon cancer.”  Those words are enough to turn someone’s life upside down, but NO, not Mariah’s. She held her mom’s hand and looked in her eyes and said, “I did this once, I will do it again.”

Mariah was diagnosed with a childhood cancer when she was 5 years old, she fought hard then and had been cancer free for the last 16 years. She knows all too well what to expect next and yet, finds a way to be upbeat and positive and is sure to make everyone around her who is concerned feel better about what she is up against.

As many of you know, Mariah is a little firecracker. She is full of life and laughter, and always has a smile no matter what. She has the biggest heart of gold, and has always put everyone’s needs in front of her own, and makes sure that everyone she loves is okay. She genuinely cares and loves deeply and unconditionally. As crazy as it may seem, Mariah was made to fight this battle, and not just once, but TWICE! She truly is a miracle straight from the heavens above!

Mariah had surgery on September 20, 2018, and was in the hospital for a week. By the grace of God, they were able to remove the tumor with no complications. She is now recovering from the surgery, but unfortunately, will need chemo treatments. She will get chemo every two weeks for the next 6 months.

Now, with all this being said, and as hard as it was for the family to agree to making a Go Fund me account, we are asking for any and all help to ease the financial burden as the family goes through this.
