For those who don't know me my name is Jordan Hornbuckle I'm 21 years old and I'm from the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. The past 10 years of my life have been very challenging. There were a number of things that happened to my family that were out of my control, but they directly affected me and my siblings. These things really affected how I felt about the direction of my life and impacted the path that I travelled.
As a college student it's important to have an idea of what you want to do, where you want to go, and what you want to achieve in life. When I left high school I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life.
After high school I attended Hardin-Simmons University to play football where I ended up getting injured and leaving after one semester. After leaving Hardin-Simmons I went through the toughest season of my life. It was season where I lost my motivation and I my lost purpose. I ended up getting into some old habits that were terrrible and I lost my faith in Christ for a few months. I didn't want to get out of bed somedays, I didn't pray or talk to God, and I didn't want to be around my church family. But God had a bigger plan for me!
One week one of my bestfriends from high school, Ryan Martinez gave me a call and invited me out to Heartland Church to listen to a sermon he had prepared for his youth group. I accepted Ryans invitation to go to Heartland and God did something amazing that night. On March 6, 2014 I got saved in the Holy Spirit at Heartland church. After that service there was something different about me. It took me a while to understand what was going on, but God was gradualily working on me and remolding me into a new person.
After that experience at Heartland I began to get plugged in with Elevate youth (pretty much as a student) and listening to Gods Word. I changed my circle of friends and surrounded myself with other Christians who were on fire for Christ. I called up all my mentors Doug Hutchins, Jordan Dunnington, and Dusty Dean and told them what was going on in my life and made sure that I was getting them involved in this new stage of my life.
Shortly after being plugged in at Heartland I made my way back to my home church, Destiny Pointe where I was raised and my mom served as Senior Pastor. I wanted to spread this new fire that I had never had with the youth at our church. That summer with the help of my moms leadership team we put on a youth conference called Three60 conference. It was quite an experience, but it was life changing for me and many of our Youth.
The weekend of the conference was when I first heard about Hillsong College, Australia and I didn't think much of it at first. But after doing some studying and questioning some friends who had gone there I was very interested. I prayed and prayed about going to Hillsong and after a few months I felt like God was telling me to step out of my comfort zone and go.
And now here I am, it's 2015 and I'm wanting to accept my call into ministry!
I ran from it for a long time because I feared being in ministry because of the mantle my parents carried. But I no longer have that spirit of fear, I am ready to be used for the Kingdom. These past two years have been a personal battle and satan has been trying to tear me down, but I serve a God who is stronger.
As I enter into this new season and calling I'm ready to learn in a way that will properly prepare me to be a voice to my generation. This is where I need your help! You see the challenge that me and my family faced 10 years ago - no one expected us to make it, but with faith in God we did! But the truth is we are still rebuilding our lives! And while things look great (and they get better everyday), now that I'm ready to step into my purpose the matter of finances is still a problem. And since Hillsong is in Australia, and there is no financial aid available - I have to raise the funds to make this dream possible.
So, can YOU help me make this dream of attending Hillsong College in Australia a reality? So, that I can transform my future by learning life, leadership and ministry alongside leaders that are changing the world in a classroom that mixes classroon and hands-on ministry.
And when I finish - I want to come back to the United States to make a difference here!
I hope that you will consider helping me to prepare for a life of ministry and purpose!
I hope you will assist me! And you have my committment that I won't let you down, because now I understand that God has called me to something greater and I'm ready to accept the challenge!
Thank you and May God Bless you for your generous contribution to the mission HE has called me to!
