World Scout Jamboree 2023 fundraising

We are 2 Whittlesey boys who have both been in scouting since we were small. We have been lucky enough to be selected to represent Cambridgeshire at the 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 in SaeManGeum, South Korea. This is a huge privilege as these events are only held every 4 years and the selection process is tough.

The aim of World Scout Jamborees is mainly educational - it is designed to bring together young people from all over the world to promote peace and mutual understanding and to share skills. It is also a platform to campaign for change on key world issues. The key theme for this event is how scouts can help to create a sustainable world. This particular world Jamboree will welcome 50.000 young people from all over the world. The UK group will be made up of 3,240 young people from all over the UK.

We are looking forward to being able to make friends and work with other young people from all over the world with different languages and cultures. We will also be running events about our local area, culture and customs. On our return we will be able to share our experiences with other local scouts and encourage them to think about what they can do to help create a sustainable world.

In order to attend this event we need to raise £3895 each over the next 18 months. This fee is set by Scouts and as well as covering travel, insurance, accommodation, training camps etc it also puts money into a fund to help underprivileged UK Scouts to attend and Scouts from poorer countries of the world, in order to guarantee that this is a truly inclusive and World encompassing Jamboree. We will be busy fundraising in lots of different ways both individually and together. Please keep an eye out for our events - we are planning tombolas, quiz nights, bingo, car washes, stalls at local events etc
