Hi all! If you don’t know a little over a year ago my father was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndromes). When he stopped working there was a issue between his insurances when he swapped to Medicare and he had a 4 month lapse in his chemo. When he started back up on his treatment after a four months that it was no longer effective and he needed heavier doses of it. When he went for another bone marrow biopsy, they determined how severe the cancer was getting so he was admitted to the hospital in Arlington for 5 weeks of treatment. Everything is still so new and uncertain at this time until we see how he is reacting to the new chemo. Since he is so far away and we refuse to leave him alone the financing to get up there to support him through his treatment is becoming more and more of a stressor for everyone. Also, now that we don’t have his income from his full time job and soley have his retirement once a month money for groceries and bills have also been really tight and stressful.
